Refresh your Wellness Routine This Summer
Summer is the perfect time to refresh your wellness routine! Warmer weather invites us outside and encourages us to get more physical activity. Much like your relationship with others, your relationship with wellness must also be revitalized occasionally! Summer allows us time to travel, get outdoors, and step outside our comfort zone. This summer, we’ve created a short guide to invigorate your fitness foundation and add joy to your summer routine!
- Post-workout walk: When you finish your workout on our Frame Reformer, head outdoors for a 5-10-minute walk. As you walk, look around at all that you see. Name three things you are grateful for as you walk down and three things you wish as you walk back. By incorporating this practice into your day, you will experience more peace and a calmer mind.
- Ground your energy: Grounding connects us with the Earth to find balance and stability. A more traditional term for this practice is “Earthing,” which refers to the electromagnetic exchange between the Earth and ourselves. Earth has a negative charge, so objects with positive charges, like humans, can be grounded by touching the Earth. By practicing grounding techniques such as walking barefoot or simply placing the soles of your feet on top of the ground, you can balance excess electrical charges in the body. Try grounding your energy this summer at the beach by placing your feet deeply in the sand and pausing to give thanks for the year so far!
- Visit a lake, beach, river, or ocean: Research shows that spending time near water has greater health benefits than spending time on land. Some benefits include increased mental stamina, greater attention, happiness, deeper relaxation, and better sleep. Make it a point this summer to spend time by the water! Bring your Pilates mat and work on your foundation techniques! Is your Frame Reformer at a summer home? Enjoy your proximity to water in between workouts and soak up the sun!
- Choose one book this summer: Over 50% of adults did not read an entire book last year. Start this July and choose one book that speaks to you. Make it a goal to finish the book by the first day of Autumn! Between July 1st and September 22nd, there are approximately 83 days! If you only read two pages daily, you could finish a 166-page book by the end of summer! Need suggestions? Check out the American Library Association’s recommended summer list, or scan your social media to see what's trending!
- Introduce tea to your wellness routine: Make time for tea this summer as you begin your day or finish your meal. Did you know that black tea helped reduce cortisol levels in stressed patients by 47%? If you’re traveling, aim to purchase tea from whatever airports, cities, or places you visit! If you’re gardening, try drying some of your favorite herbs for your own tea later.
- Enjoy local produce: Head to your local Farmer’s Market and get your steps in while you choose from the freshest and best produce to prepare your meals! Bring a friend and make it a social outing. Eat what’s in season as you stay active and spend time with loved ones!
Let this summer become your most fulfilling, and expand your wellness routine!
